Ron’s Honky Tonk has solidified its position as a key grassroots hub for the United Kingdom’s country music community, hosting its latest monthly residency at Fabal Beerhall in Bermondsey. The event continues to draw dedicated audiences to the SE1 postcode, a location where such specialized musical gatherings are uncommon.

The venue, located at Arch 88 on Druid Street, offers entry for £7. Patrons arriving before 7:30 pm receive a complimentary pint of Fabal lager, which is brewed by Hiver Brewery, the partner behind the event. The collaboration highlights the brewery’s award-winning products, including varieties that incorporate honey to create a smoother taste profile.

Rosalind, a representative for Hiver Beers, described the residency as distinct from typical pub gigs. She emphasized that the series focuses on stripped-back sets from touring country acts rather than cover bands or line-dancing novelties. "It’s become a genuine grassroots fixture for the UK country scene, right here in Bermondsey," Rosalind said. "If you’re after a country music night in London that isn’t a novelty line-dancing bar, Ron’s Honky Tonk is the real thing."

The atmosphere at the beerhall reflected this commitment to authenticity. Attendees arrived in traditional attire, including cowboy boots and Stetson hats, creating a lively environment as they gathered near the stage.

The evening’s lineup began with Mikey Davies, a young singer-songwriter performing original material inspired by artists such as Zach Bryan. This marked Davies’ second appearance at the venue. Ron, the event organizer, noted that he invited Davies back after being impressed by his previous performance. Davies delivered soft, self-penned songs that showcased a dedication to his craft.

Following Davies, Lauren Claire Townley took the stage. Dressed in a Stetson, boots, and rhinestones, she performed a bright country-pop set that resonated with the crowd. During her performance, Townley paid tribute to Dolly Parton, who had recently passed away. Her rendition of "I Will Always Love You" drew an emotional response from attendees.

The headlining act was Ned Moss, an accomplished guitarist known for blending folk, British Americana, and Bluegrass influences. His lyrical music contributed to the rising energy in the room, with audience members bobbing their heads and engaging with the performance.

Rosalind reiterated that the residency’s success lies in its support of the UK country scene through honest sets from touring talent. She noted that the changing lineup ensures regulars return for each date.
