Adams facing long injury layoff as Rams' problems deepen

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams faces up to 10 weeks on the sidelines after suffering a ruptured hamstring, head coach Sean McVay said Monday as the NFL team's injury crisis deepened.

Star receiver Adams pulled up in a non-contact incident in the fourth quarter of the Rams' 18-16 defeat to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

Adams was one of several injuries the Rams confirmed on Monday.

Defensive lineman Poona Ford will miss the rest of the season with a ruptured triceps while defensive end Kobie Turner is expected to be sidelined for up to six weeks with a groin injury.

In addition, new kicker Blake Grupe -- who was only signed last week after the decision to axe predecessor Harrison Mevis -- will miss the rest of the season after suffering torn knee ligaments.

Grupe was injured in the first quarter against Arizona on Sunday as he attempted to make a tackle on a kickoff return.

"The first thing is you feel terrible for these guys," McVay said during a press conference on Monday.

"Those guys are key contributors for us, so there's a lot of emotions. But the first thing is support these guys, be there for them, and then the next thing is make sure that we figure out what's the best way for our team to be able to move forward."

The Rams injury crisis comes with the franchise -- tipped by many before the season as Super Bowl favorites -- languishing at the foot of the NFC West on 2-4.

"We've taken some shots this year, and we've got to be able to get up and keep swinging," McVay said of the Rams' problems. "This is a good test."
